Municipal WWTP, Finland
A municipal wastewater treatment plant faces a complex operational challenge. While serving the local community, it must also handle wastewater from two food processing facilities that discharge fat-rich effluent into the system. The plant utilizes Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) for primary treatment, but the resulting sludge presents significant logistical and financial burdens.
The problem was clear: soaring sludge transportation and disposal costs were eating into operational budgets, demanding an innovative solution for efficient dewatering with minimal operating expenses.
The tested VOLUTE DUO™ RVP-241 achieved an average cake dryness of 42% DS and average throughput of 17,5 kg-DS/h, even when treating challenging fat-rich DAF sludge with a total solids concentration of 3.9%. The capture rate reached 99%, and the unit operated stably without cylinder blockage despite the difficult sludge composition. Thanks to AMCON’s recommendation, the client optimized polymer consumption by dosing only 3 g/kg-DS, while the VOLUTE DUO™ ensured reliable, low-energy performance. The compact and self-cleaning design further minimized maintenance needs and guaranteed consistent operation under varying conditions.
