Background

A manure treatment facility in the Netherlands processes pig manure from farms in the region into clean water and compost. They were in need of a reliable and low-maintenance solution suitable for the dewatering of the fibrous and highly-organic sludge from their DAF. Various dewatering technologies were tested on site but only AMCON’s VOLUTE™ and VOLUTE DUO™ worked.

Installation details

During the test, using a FS-201 and a RVP-241, both machines ran smoothly with no blockages. FS-201 achieved a higher cake dryness (up to 19.5% DS) than RVP-241 (~16.5% DS), while both maintained excellent filtrate quality with a >95% solids capture rate. The DAF sludge was dewatered directly without any additional polymer, creating a significant saving on OPEX. The test confirmed the suitability of VOLUTE™ for fibrous sludge and led to the installation of a full-scale FS-403 unit.
