Scotch Whisky Distillery, United Kingdom
The largest Scotch whisky distillery remaining in the family ownership as of the time of this installation (2015) has been investing in its own engineering company for their waste recycling. The main part of the recycling was to turn the spent wash coming out of the distilling process into biogas, the renewable energy source. In addition, their ambition was higher. They wanted to turn the digested spent wash into animal feed, achieving the complete recycling cycle.
VOLUTE units installed in a distillery, UK
Atana Ltd. together with AMCON’s VOLUTE™ Dewatering Press managed to implement the solution to dewater the digestate coming from the anaerobic digestion process in the way which is safe enough to turn it into animal feed. Since the goal of the plant was to create energy from the waste, the mean to achieve it had to be energy efficient and costs low to maintain. After a deep consideration by the client, VOLUTE™ was selected mainly for its low operation costs, easy maintenance, and engineering knowhow of Atana for chemical engineering and AMCON for the mechanical customization of the dewatering cylinder to dewater this special sludge stably.
