AMCON Inc. (Yokohama, Japan), a Japanese company specialized in providing wastewater and sludge treatment equipment and services, announces the establishment of AMCON Deutschland GmbH through its subsidiary and European headquarter, AMCON Europe s.r.o. (Chrastany, Czech Republic), on 17.05.2019. It is its first German subsidiary located about 2 hours north of Frankfurt am Main in the middle of Germany, the city of Felsberg in Hassen state. This company offers solution of decentralized sludge treatment using its unique dewatering press called VOLUTETM. It is now fully available for wastewater treatment plants in Germany.
Ever since AMCON has launched a revolutionary sludge dewatering press VOLUTETM in Japan, the company has been the pioneer of promoting solution of decentralized sludge treatment for municipal sewage treatment plants and industrial or private commercial facilities. It has been servicing more than 4 500 facilities worldwide in Japan, China, US, and Europe. Conventionally, sludge generated from small scale municipal wastewater treatment plants, large commercial buildings (hotels, hospitals, stadiums) or large cruisers were too small in volume for the facilities to invest in their own sludge dewatering facility to make economic sense. Therefore, they had been transporting the liquid sludge to a central wastewater treatment plant and then it was dewatered collectively.
However, this solution had never been the perfect one because of the transportation cost and risk of environmental disruptions by transporting liquid sludge with full of bacteria across the towns. “Mobile dewatering service is a common solution in many countries for the small plants, but it is still not the complete solution.”, says Takaaki Yamamoto, CEO of AMCON Europe s.r.o. Takaaki explained that, “it (mobile dewatering service) still leaves the problem of costs of sludge storage as it is too costly to have the service every day. The sludge being stored for 2-3 weeks presents the potential smell pollution towards the neighboring residences and more significantly the cost of filtrate water after dewatering which contains significant amount of nitrogen can be a headache as it cannot be treated at the local wastewater treatment plant. So, this would have to be transported to somewhere else for final disposal.”
Germany is the country where there are more than ten thousand small scale municipal wastewater treatment plants without its own sludge treatment facilities. Having successfully introduced the idea of decentralized sludge treatment in Japan, Russia, China, and Czech Republic, AMCON is now fully ready to propose the solution for one of the most environmentally conscious countries in the world, Germany.
VOLUTETM Dewatering Press
AMCON’s VOLUTETM Dewatering Press is designed with self-cleaning filter mesh which increases its thickening capacity, it is significantly higher than conventional filter drum used in dewatering technology. This makes it possible to downsize the machine and provide an operator-free operation, making not only investment cost but also operation cost of sludge dewatering lower. VOLUTETM is available for an affordable price for wastewater treatment plants with from only 150m3/day of wastewater and also a larger scale.
Sewage Sludge Days Conference (DWA Klärschlammtage) Würzburg
AMCON Deutschland GmbH will be exhibiting at this special sludge treatment conference called Sewage Sludge Days (DWA Klärschlammtage) from 21. to 23.5. Please join us and meet AMCON.
